With the Pixel 10 launch, Google is aiming to outpace Apple in AI-powered smartphones. Announced at the Made by Google event, the new series arrives just ahead of the iPhone 17.
Google has been steadily adding AI features since the Pixel 9, including Gemini Live, call notes, and image-generation tools, with live conversations now lasting five times longer than text-based chats.
The Pixel 10 introduces Visual Overlays for camera guidance, Magic Cue for contextual suggestions, Camera Coach for better photography, Voice Translate for calls, and AI-powered Take a Message and Pixel Journal.
The Tensor G5 processor drives these enhancements, powering Gemini Nano. Visual Overlays can highlight items in real time, while Magic Cue integrates suggestions into apps and Daily Hub.
Camera Coach offers composition tips, Auto Best Take selects the optimal shot, and Ask Photos enables AI-driven photo editing. Voice Translate supports multiple languages in real time.
Take a Message transcribes missed calls and recommends follow-ups, while Pixel Journal prompts reflections, tracks goals, and provides insights. Additional updates include Gboard writing tools and Pixel Studio screenshot enhancements.
